Varsity University All Star Cheer conferences give coaches and gym owners the opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders and outside professionals to grow their businesses and promote the all star community. Varsity University All Star is committed to partnering with gyms to continue creating life-enriching experiences through All Star participation.

CPR & AED Certification

The Heartsaver CPR AED course trains participants to give CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely and effective manner.
This is a 2-year certification. Cost of course is in addition to the standard Varsity University registration fee and must be registered for separately.

Dr. JD Boudreaux

J.D. Boudreaux received a Bachelor of Science degree from McNeese State University in 2003 as well as a Masters of Physical Therapy from LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport in 2005. In August of 2003, he became nationally certified as an athletic trainer and obtained his Sports Certified Specialist certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2011. He recently completed his EdD degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe in Curriculum and Instruction in the Fall of 2018. He has over ten years of experience as a dual credentialed sports medicine professional. He has spent seven years managing acute athletic injuries and directing the post-surgical rehabilitation of high-level athletes at the collegiate level. Furthermore, he has served as a visiting lecturer and clinical preceptor for an ATEP program. Currently, he is employed as a Director of Sports Medicine for an outreach program in south Louisiana and works within a private outpatient sports medicine clinic delivering care in conjunction with other medical professionals to a variety of individuals, including high school and collegiate athletes. JD is married to the former Stephanie Mayeux and the proud father of two daughters, Olivia and Anniston.

Wendy Ayers was the Owner and founder of Cheer Central Suns, a multi location gym in both Colorado and New Mexico. During her tenure, her teams won multiple national championships, and even a World Champion title. What she is most proud of, however, is the lives positively affected along the way, and the impact on amazing athletes/staff, and family culture that was created within the gym. During the last several decades, Wendy saw the need for additional competition opportunities, and was one of the founders CheerMatch.
Mandy Andrews

Mandy was a team coach and director at our Brandon All-Stars for 10 years. She is now the International Sales and Event Advisor for Varsity! Mandy attended the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Physiology. She continued her education at Oklahoma State University where she obtained a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in Biomechanics. Mandy was a Team USA team member in 2010 and 2011. Mandy started coaching gymnastic when she was 16 years old and has been coaching cheerleading since graduate school. She has coached levels 1-7 all over the world.

Edgar Ruiz is the Owner of All-Star Revolution in Houston, Tx. With 25 years of coaching under his belt, he looks forward to starting season 13 at ASR. Throughout his career, Edgar was the first head coach to bring
NCA and World Championship titles to Houston in 2005 and 2009. In total, ASR has won 47 NCA titles and 9 Summit Championship titles.

Meagan Gamarlo is the Owner of Northern Lights All-Stars in New Hampshire. She has been a small gym owner for the last 18 years and built her program from the ground up! A former V-Roc Choreographer and UCA Staff Member, Megan is passionate about leadership, positive coaching and helping others succeed in business and the sport! One of her proudest accomplishments is winning The D2 Summit in 2023!
Dr. Summer Ott
Dr. Summer OttHealth & Safety - Concussions
Summer Ott, Psy.D., is the Director of the Memorial Hermann | Rockets Sports Medicine Institute Concussion Program and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. She was a member of the task force that developed verbiage for a sports concussion bill in Texas known as Natasha’s Law. This law established return-to-play guidelines for school-aged athletes with concussion.

Currently, Dr. Ott serves as the neuropsychological consultant for most Houston professional sports teams including the Texans, Dash, Dynamo, Rockets, and Sabercats, as well as teams from numerous universities and school districts throughout Texas. In addition to assessments of athletes actively engaged in sports, her practice also includes neuropsychological evaluations of former collegiate and professional athletes and patients with non-sports-related mTBI.

Dr. Ott serves on the medical advisory committee for USA Cheer. She is also a founding member and fellow of the Sports Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Ott has received grant funding from the NIH and the Moody Endowment to study concussive injury in adolescent athletes and has co-authored publications on sports related concussion.

Dr. Karen Lew

Karen Lew Feirman, DHSC, LAT, ATC is the Vice President of Varsity University and Varsity Event Administration and serves as the Director of Safety for Varsity Spirit. She is an adjunct faculty at the University of West Florida and University of Miami.

Karen is involved with the Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association (SEATA) and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association(NATA). In 2016, she was inducted into the Louisiana Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame. She was awarded the Athletic Trainer Service Award in 2016 and the Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award in 2020, both from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. In 2018, she received the Chuck Kimmel Award of Merit from SEATA. In 2023, she was inducted into the Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame. She currently serves on the USA Cheer Medical Advisory Committee specializing in injury and illness prevention for cheerleading and dancers. In November of 2013, she was appointed the Director of Safety for USA Cheer.

Justin Carrier started teaching summer camps for NCA in 1995 and began working in the corporate office full-time in 2001. He’s served in many roles over the years, including Director of Scoring for Varsity All Star, Vice President of NCA, member of the USASF Rules Committee and Board of Directors, and Southwest Region General Manager. He still manages NCA/NDA and is currently the Vice President of All Star Experience.

Chris McNabb is a technology entrepreneur, founder and CEO of iClassPro, Inc., a leading provider of software and technology for gymnastics, swim, and cheerleading centers for over two decades. Chris’s background and expertise has played a crucial role in the creation and implementation of business solutions tailored to meet the needs of children’s activity centers.

Before his journey in technology and business, Chris was an elite athlete, training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and Chris represented USA Tumbling and Trampoline Olympic Exhibition Team in Atlanta in 1996. During his career, Chris won multiple USA Tumbling and Trampoline National Titles, including the gold medal at the USA Tumbling Jr. Elite National Champion in 1992 in Dallas, Texas. In addition, Chris brought honor to the USA by winning a silver medal at the Nissen Cup in Switzerland as a member of the World Championship Team in New Zealand.

After a successful competitive career, he served as the USA Gymnastics Tumbling & Trampoline State Director in 2000, bringing his extensive knowledge and passion to administration roles. From his distinguished sports career to his successful entrepreneurial venture, Chris McNabb is a figure who embodies dedication, excellence, and the spirit of innovation.
